Saw the movie in Hartford yesterday ( Real Art Ways); Terrific !! I's good to leave a theatre feeling good and this movie provides that along with a great sense of black life in Alabama in th 50's. Great performances by all. Charles Dutton has a great role as Danny Glover's friend and Stacey Keach plays an excellent role as an Alabama sheriff, holding all of those attitudes which one might expect of that era.

This looks like a great film as a professional musician in the blues world I often disappointed with film depictions I believe this is one film that "gets it"

The film is premiering here in Alabama on Feb. 2, at The Edge here in Greenville, where much of the film was shot. It is opening the following week in the larger cities in our state. It is scheduled to open in St Louis, Dallas, Portland, Austin, on Feb. 1 and other cities across the country throughout the month.
I work for the local newspaper and was lucky enough to get to go behind the scenes on a couple of the location shoots. Also got to hear Garry Clark Jr. (the handsome young substitute for Guitar Sam) and Keb Mo (Possum) perform during our city's blues festival in 2006 --- you talk about some sensational music! The Honeydripper Lounge seen in the movie started life as a little country store (long since shuttered) in a very small, quiet rural community.
Needless to say, having a movie made in our county was quite exciting!
Can't wait to see it next weekend.
